York Redoubt National Historic Site
Explore the grounds at York Redoubt National Historic Site year-round. The gates, parking lots, washrooms, and the Sally Port are only open during the summer months. See hours of operation.
The grounds are wheelchair accessible with assistance.
The fortification is closed for the season. The grounds are open but there is no maintenance. Parking is available outside the gate.
Garbage cans
Garbage cans are available at both entrances. Please leave no trace and dispose of your waste properly. Owners must pick up and dispose of their dog's waste responsibly.
Parking
Free parking is available at the main entrance and at the fire road trailhead.
Overnight parking is not permitted.
Both parking lot surfaces are gravel.
Main entrance
Summer
Free parking is available from 8 am to 8 pm. The gates are locked at closing time. Please ensure your vehicle is out of the area at closing time or you will be locked in.
Shoulder season and winter
There is limited parking available outside the main gates. When parking, please leave room for buses to turn around.
Fire road trailhead
The fire road trailhead is open year-round.

Picnic tables and benches are available throughout the site year-round.


Trails
The trails are open year-round but only maintained in the summer months.
There are two trailheads:
- Main parking lot
- Fire road parking lot

Washrooms
The washrooms are only open in the summer months. See hours of operation.
The washroom doors are not push-button operated. There are no handrails next to the toilets.


On-leash dogs are welcome
All dogs, even good dogs, need to be on a leash no longer than 3 metres (10 feet) and under your control at all times, pursuant to the National Historic Parks Wildlife and Domestic Animal Regulations.
Owners must pick up and dispose of their dog's waste responsibly.
