Lockstation list and information

Travel along the historic canal system is made possible by a series of 24 lockstations staffed annually during the navigation season by specially trained Parks Canada lockmasters. Lockage and mooring services are offered to vessels travelling by water, and various other amenities - such as washrooms, campsites and potable water – are available to all visitors. Manicured green space, historic buildings, and friendly fellow travellers await you at any of these lockstations along the route, and each site has its own unique story to tell.

Understanding temporary lockage delays and lock staff availability

The information below outlines shutdowns and delays that are outside of normal operations.

Lock staff on site have many responsibilities, and weather conditions can sometimes create unsafe situations, which may result in delays to on-demand lockages. These may include:

• Lightning in the area – 30-minute delay from the last sighting.
• Water management responsibilities (such as dam changes).
