Visitor orientation

Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, National Marine Conservation Area Reserve, and Haida Heritage Site

Visiting Gwaii Haanas on your own boat or kayak? The Gwaii Haanas Archipelago Management Board requires that each visitor complete a self-guided orientation before entering Gwaii Haanas.

This session includes information on closures, emergency protocols, Watchmen sites and how to travel in Gwaii Haanas respectfully. Every person in your group 17 years or older must complete the self-guided orientation and receive a grade of 80% on the Orientation Quiz. Your trip leader is responsible for sharing orientation messaging with group members 17 years and younger.

You will receive information on accessing the orientation once you have made your reservation.

It is mandatory to carry both your booking receipt and orientation completion certificate when traveling in Gwaii Haanas. This can be carried in digital format (must be saved in advance as there is no cell phone service in Gwaii Haanas) or a paper copy. Printing a paper copy is strongly recommended.
