Stanhope Beach is a popular summer destination for many local Island beach-goers. Admired for its fine sand, boardwalk amenities, a large parking lot, and its proximity to Charlottetown. 

Stanhope Beach is the most accessible beach in PEI National Park.

Domestic animals are prohibited on beaches between April 1 and October 15 annually.

Description

  • Stanhope Beach is a popular destination and can be busy on a hot summer day.
  • There is a parking lot with designated parking spaces for visitors with limited mobility. 
  • There is a boardwalk beach complex with access to washrooms, outdoor showers, benches, a playground and a sheltered picnic area. 
  • The total distance from the beach complex to the sand is 140 meters.
  • It is an 80 meter flat boardwalk from the beach complex to the top of the sand dunes.
  • To reach the sand, there is a 60 meter ramp with a flat landing area midway.
  • The ramp is 5 to 6 degrees.
  • Option to use stairs with a landing midway.
  • Bicycles are not permitted on the boardwalk.
  • Between early July and early September, mobility mats are in place at the base of the ramp.
  • The beach is soft white sand above the waterline and hard-packed sand below the waterline when the tide is out.
